Veneers & Smile Design
Digital Smile Design · Veneers · Orthodontics
Treatment time: About 14 months
Treating clinician: Dr Ahmed Abou Foul

A veneer case rebuilt the right way — the previous veneers sat on an uncorrected bite, so the bite was fixed with orthodontics first, then new veneers were designed and placed.
About this case
This patient already had veneers — but they had been bonded onto a bite that was never corrected. Veneers placed on a wrong bite can look acceptable at first, then chip, debond or wear unevenly, because the jaw relationship is doing work the teeth should not. The correct sequence is bite first, veneers second: the patient completed orthodontic treatment to correct the bite, and only then were new, properly planned veneers placed. That is why veneers are sometimes redone — not because veneers fail, but because they were never set up on a sound foundation.
Treatment sequence
- Diagnosis — identifying that the old veneers sat on an uncorrected bite
- Orthodontic treatment to correct the bite (about one year)
- Digital smile design of the new veneers on the corrected bite
- Removal of the old veneers and conservative preparation
- Bonding of the new, properly aligned veneers
